Roses are red, Violets are blue...

Valentine's Day shall soon be upon us, so I thought I would share my latest piece of nail art, which falls nicely in the theme of love. What better way to say those three little words everyone loves to hear, with roses...

The base coat is a beautiful lilac colour from Ciate called 'Sugar Plum', which I applied three coats to get an opaque look. As always I topped off it off with a coat of Seche Vite to help with the drying process.

To create the roses I used a large dotting tool and place random blobs using Barry M's gelly hi shine polish in 'Pomegranate'.

To add a bit of dimension, I uses a small dotting tool to create some swirls in the roses. The contrasting colour I used was 'Instyle Coral' by Rimmel London, which I think go really well together and also compliments the lilac base coat. To finish off the roses I used the small dotting tool to add a leaf to each rose in a dark bottle green called 'Burton Mews' by Nails Inc. The topped off with one more coat of Seche Vite's fast drying top coat.

You can see last years St Valentine's Day nail creation here.

Let me know what you think?

Until next time...

New Year, New Nails

Firstly I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and apologise for my absence of late. I had a busy Christmas and New year and sort of lost my blogging mojo. Not to mention I had a massive nail break which has made my enthusiasm to paint my nails dwindle.

I received lots of nail polish for Christmas, so I was spoilt for choice when painting my nails for the first time this year. I opted for a beautiful burgundy polish called 'Savile Row' by Nails inc. I absolutely adore it. I prepped my nails the usual way using OPI's base coat, only needed one coat of coloured polish and topped it off with a generous helping of Seche vIte.

As I am not one to just have a plain polish on my nails I decided to add a little flower power to spruce it up a little. I bought these nail stickers from Viva La Nails for around £1. They are super easy to apply, and I secured them with some Seche Vite to help them last longer on the nail and not peel off. This actually worked really effectively and did not cause the stickers to shrink and they were kept in perfect condition for around a week. (Can you tell I have a dishwasher? And do not have to do the washing up!)

What do you think? What is your experience with nail stickers? What nail products did you get for Christmas?

Until next time...

Gold flower blossom

I decided to delve into my newly acquired QVC nail polish set to create the manicure I have been wearing this week. The polish I subjected to my nail art was 'Coconutty' by Leighton Denny, which I used for the base colour. It is a lovely nude-like brown with gold iridescent flecks that shimmer through. I used two thin coats to get the depth of the colour you can see in the photos.

To create the flowers I used gold acrylic paint and a dotting tool. I placed one dot where I wanted the flower to be positioned, which becomes the centre. I then used the same size dotting tool to place approx. 5 dots around the perimeter of the original dot to create petals.

To add an extra bit of sparkle I used a gold glitter from China Glace called 'Lions Mane'. The glitter particles are very fine, but the bottle is jammed packed with them, so it really adds glitz to the centre of the flower. I applied it the same way I did the petals and used the same sized dotting tool.

To finish the manicure and to add the finishing touch, I applied one or two leaves to each individual flower using a pearl green stripper polish from Fraulien, then capped it all off with a coat of SV.

What do you think?

Does anyone else like to use acrylic paint for their nail art?

Until next time...
